Website creationSpecialty café · Fitzroy, VIC

Ashgrove & Co.

A single-site specialty roastery trading on foot traffic alone, with a menu locked inside a PDF and no way to take an order before the customer reached the counter.

ashgroveco.com.au

The challenge

Morning queues were losing walk-ups, the menu was updated by emailing a designer, and the roastery bar sat half empty because nobody knew it could be booked.

Strategy summary

Treat the site as a second service counter: order-ahead first, subscription revenue second, discovery content third. Every template was designed mobile-first because 88% of café searches happen on a phone within 3km of the shop.

Before and after

Before

  • PDF menu that pinched-and-zoomed on mobile
  • No online ordering — phone or counter only
  • Roastery bar bookings handled over Instagram DMs
  • One page, no suburb or 'near me' coverage

After

  • 20-second order-ahead flow with saved favourites
  • Self-serve menu CMS editable from the floor
  • Bean subscriptions with roast-date fulfilment
  • LocalBusiness + Menu schema and suburb landing pages

What we did

01

Order-ahead as the primary CTA

Saved favourites, Apple Pay and a pickup-slot picker on the home screen — no app install, no account wall.

02

Menu as structured data

The floor manager edits items from a phone; the same record feeds the page, the Menu schema and the Google Business Profile.

03

Subscription engine

Recurring billing keyed to roast dates, with pause, skip and grind-size controls to keep churn low.

04

Suburb-level local SEO

Dedicated landing pages for surrounding suburbs, review capture after pickup, and weekly GBP posts.
